Restraining Grace, Redeeming Grace and the Words We Speak

Paul Tripp speaks of the impact and import of the words we speak as well as what would happen if God did not restrain our tongues.

    Interesting idea… I’m not sure I think of things at all in these terms. I wonder if Tripp is saying that God implicitly restrains human evil by the created order (human conscience, albeit distorted) or by active restraint? Perhaps both. I would typically think of things in a much more naturalistic way - Human restraint comes about through cultured sociological impulse. In most cases, it seems to be in the best self-interest of the human to exercise restraint. Maybe I should see God’s restraint in a more active way in light of the pure evil we are surely capable of.
