I’ve created a summary of my notes from Andy Stanley’s Communicating for a Change .

Let me know if it’s helpful to you.

Very helpful. I also recommend “Working the Room: How to Move People to Action through Audience-Centered Speaking” by Nick Morgan. Morgan agrees with Stanley’s comment about “The only goal worth having: Life Change.” Morgan stresses the only reason to make a speech is to change the world. He also brings out the need to connect with the emotional side of people and how that comes about when the speaker uses common story-templates found in our culture. (I see Dr. Jerry Sheveland doing this often.) Jeff, thanks for the book summaries. I love the “how to” and theory. Now, we just need about 40-50 speaking opportunities under our belt.
