Perhaps Apple’s strategy in the UK is to start by hooking judges and lawyers on iTunes?
Apple Computer Inc. is on the defensive in Europe for the second time in as many weeks as the company prepares to battle The Beatles’ record label for its right to distribute music in the United Kingdom’s highest court.
If I was Paul McCartney, I wouldn’t want those barristers listening to my music either.

Tyler Cowen has some interesting thoughts on comparing cultures to one another.
Why should the greatness of the best composer, or the best poet, be the relevant unit for judging a culture? What if one culture (modernity?) produces lesser creative titans, but produces many more of them? How are we to weigh the quality of the peak versus quantity of the total?

Interesting thoughts from John Coleman.
For years I have written with hope about what a liberated Middle East might look like: human rights for women and non-Muslims, choice, unprecedented prosperity, and the free flow of ideas. I am ready to admit that I may have been wrong. So far a free Middle East has looked like civil war in Iraq, the election of Hamas, and the execution of Christians in newly “liberated” Afghanistan.
To be honest, I don’t know what to think, right now.

Amazing how the “tolerant” can be so intolerant of those they perceive to be intolerant. Since when do we equate evangelical teenagers listening to Third Day with Hitler’s Youth?
More than 25,000 evangelical Christian youth landed Friday in San Francisco for a two-day rally at AT&T Park against “the virtue terrorism” of popular culture, and they were greeted by an official city condemnation and a clutch of protesters who said their event amounted to a “fascist mega-pep rally.”

If you’re at all interested in Christian Philosophy and/or Christian History, take a few minutes to read this interesting blog post from Two Cities: Just what was the philosophical justification for splitting the Church in the Reformation?.

I remember when California had 55 mile an hour speed limits state wide and I had forgotten just how slow that really is. What I didn’t know was that there are still well travelled highways in the U.S. with a maximum posted speed limit of 55mph. To reveal the absurdity, check out what these Georgia State University students produced.

I’m not sure what to make of this exactly, but it’s fun.
