The Aluminum Foil Helmet Conspiracy

Posted in Science and Technology, Politics and Issues, Humor and Sarcasm at 1:16 pm by Jeff

For the ultra-paranoid, this is bad news.

Among a fringe community of paranoids, aluminum helmets serve as the protective measure of choice against invasive radio signals. We investigate the efficacy of three aluminum helmet designs on a sample group of four individuals…Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government’s invasive abilities. House Moves to Reinstate Property Rights

Posted in Politics and Issues, Business and Economy at 9:21 am by Jeff

It’s about time the goverment did something about reigning itself in. I recently lamented the destruction of property rights by the Supreme Court (Jeff Doolittle dot com: Life? Liberty? Property???). In its Kelo vs. City of New London decision, the court said that the city had the right to sieze property from private citizens in order to give the land to a private company for development.

Now the congress is taking the court to task for this undermining of property rights. HR 4128 is a bill introduced to confront the erosion of property rights. The bill even directly takes on the flawed Supreme Court decision in Kelo:

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Kelo v. City of New London, abuse of eminent domain is a threat to the property rights of all private property owners, including rural land owners (Sec. 7(a)(4)).

Maybe the house can prove Mark Twain wrong.
