It’s All In How You Look At It

It always cracks me up with the government refers to taxes collected as “revenue.” Here’s some more of that bad logic:

House-Senate negotiators late Wednesday approved extending three popular middle class tax cuts… The tax breaks are estimated to cost the government $145.9 billion over 10 years.

“Cost the government?” How about this: “The tax breaks are estimated to keep 145.9 billion dollars in the hands of taxpayers and out of the government coffers.”

    More to the point, the revenue decrease to the government will probably be different than the amount saved by the taxpayers. Contrary to the beliefs of journalists, Democrats and other economic illiterates, the economy is NOT a zero-sum game.

    The Laffer Curve may be oversimplified, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

    Good point. When the inmates have been in charge for so long, you start forgetting what sanity sounds like.
